Need Internet For Rural Areas Can Someone Help?

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

Well i looked into hughes satellite and to be honest i think paying those kind of prices for Satellite speeds and most of all having a cap on the bandwidth is just crazy. I was hoping someone could give me another option and was also looking for people’s opinion on alltel’s and Verizon’s wireless chip “unlimited” internet. Where i live (outside of ocala) in morriston fl 32668 i cant even get dsl can any1 help? i was also looking into t1 because it will be used for personal and business for me and my father and paying 150-250/mo is more worth it than 120 for satellite but then again i could be completely off since i know nothing about t1 if some1 could help me out i would appreciate it thank you in advance. Oh and i looked at different t1 sites and im not even sure if i could get that out there so some information about t1 (if that is the route to take) would again me most appreciative. Thank you

I’ve Had Dialup For 8 Years And I’m Sick Of It.?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I can’t even play games from when dialup was prominant, such as StarCraft or Counter-Strike. I want to run a small business, but there’s no WAY I’m going to do that from a dialup connection. There are no forms of broadband available to my house - DSL is out because of fiber optic lines, Verizon doesn’t service ISDN lines anymore, and cable is right across the road, yet in the numerous attempts to have them extend service, we have been denied. How can I get a faster connection other than shotgunning modems and paying like $5 per hour for it?

Voip? Efax?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

Im trying to convert my landlines at work to broad band phone providers as well as my fax. My top choices for VOIP is:
1. Sun Rocket because there is no cancellation fees and NO CONTRACTS. (i am a contract fearing person)
2. Vonage (just because its the top company in this field)
3. Verizon (they have a dsl + VoIP service)
As for EFAX:
1. EFAX.COM (Price is high, but again, its the top company in this field of email faxing)
2. MyFAX.COM (Cheap and they claim to be the next behind efax.com)
Does anyone have good or bad experiences with relying on your computer for phone and fax? is a plus or a negative to your business? any recommendations? Thank you.

Has Anyone Ever Heard Of “one Communications”?? (telecommunications)?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I manage a business in NJ and I currently use Verizon as our phone provider (local, long distance, dsl). I was approached by this company “One Communications” and they have better rates than Verizon but I am worried about switching. Please only respond if you use “One Communications” or if you know anything about the company.

Why Does My Internet Run Slower Than It Should?

Saturday, April 18th, 2009

I have Verizon DSL and while I know its not the quickest service out there now, it runs slower than it should. I ran a test online and it says that I download at 252 KB/s but whenever I download programs or game demos it constantly downloads at a speed of 60-90 KB/s. I know its nothing with my computer because I have a new Dual Core PC and a Pentium 4 that run fine. I live in a very residential area away from tall structures or businesses that might interfere. Can anyone help?

Decent Work Pay In San Antonio?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

My bf didn’t plan too well when we moved from FL to TX and now we have realized that to not lose our cars and have a place to live, we have to make $23/hour between the two of us.
He is a chef; two year degree in culinary arts but has been out of the cooking industry for about 6 years. He’s done private cooking on the side but worked in clerical-type jobs around $12/hour back home. He’s 36, hispanic, if that matters for the San Antonio area…
Me, I’m 25 and have no degree yet; I’ve worked in tons of fast food, and in the past three to four years worked as a collector for debt, and then in call centers for Verizon DSL and Progressive Auto Insurance. Last wage was $13.10/hour
So. Companies that might have similar pay to what we’re used to? Opportunities from home to make extra money? (NOT our own business, but anything legal that will give extra cash??) I’m willing to work hard to not lose my transport or home, but need help finding as I’m new here! THANK YOU!!!

Decent Wages In San Antonio, Texas?

Internet Problem; Aim And Limewire Work, But Browsers Can’t Load Webpages?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

Here’s the situation: Inexplicably, this problem with my network/Internet is occurred. I will be minding my own business browsing the internet, when my web pages won’t load anymore. I look at AIM and I’m still connected. Same goes for Limewire. Ok so I close Mozilla Firefox and try to open it again, but an error message comes up saying I must close the existing process or restart my computer. I attempt to close the process, but it won’t close.
SO i move onto Opera, and see I can browse perfectly. 10 Minutes later, Opera freezes (program and process). Once again I can’t close the process. Internet explorer acts like Mozilla if I attempt to use it.
Yet this whole time, I am still connected to iTunes Store, Limewire, and AIM. WHY??????
I have tried literally every trick in the book. My anti-virus (avast!), firewall (zonealarm), and anti-spyware (ad-aware) don’t pick up anything! On top of that, I use CCleaner, which didn’t solve my problem.
I’ve called Verizon Support TWICE! Both times help for about a few hours, and then the problem came back. I cannot system restore since I turned it off when I had a virus last year. I already used disk cleanup, disk defragmenter. I’ve power cycled my modem and router.
I googled everything about my problem and nothing helped. I even used some command prompt stuff. Basically, in attempting and failing to solve my problem, I’ve learned about so many ways to fix my computer for other things xD!
What can I do???? I’m considering a fresh install, wiping my hard drive etc. That seems to be the only solution as of now. I can back up stuff I need on dvd disks and I have a list of programs I will want back on paper. HELLPPPP!!
OS: WIndows Vista Home Premium 32 bit SP1
ISP: Verizon DSL 100 Mbps
Modem: Westell Model 6100 in Bridge Mode
Router: Netgear MR814v2

Why Is My Internet So Slow?

Friday, April 17th, 2009

I have Verizon DSL, but for the past few days I’ve been getting speeds of less than 5 kB/s. Typically this DSL connection gets me anywhere from 60kB/s to 90kB/s.. and from what I’ve heard this is still less than what I’m paying for. Earlier this evening I tested the speed and it was 0.23kB/s! Even 56k is not that slow!
I’ve done a full AdAware scan, and a virus scan for good measure. I’ve cleared out my temp folders, and restarted my computer and router a kajillion times. My main problem is, this is the only affordable high-speed internet available in this area. Even if I called and complained, I can’t threaten that I’m taking my business elsewhere… because, well, I’m stuck with them until a better company is available here.
What do you think is causing this problem? What can I do to test to see what the problem is? What, if anything, can I do to get my internet back up on its feet?!

No Fax On Line, But Fax Noise Heard Intermittently When Calling In - Why?

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

If line is crossed then is it my responsibility to fix or phone company? No fax or modem connected to this line. Just changed phone service to Verizon from another company and added DSL. Did not have this problem as frequently with the other service and now phone gets disconnected by fax noise during conversation. Must get this fixed as use it for business. What should I do?
