Tivo & Direct Tv. Several Family Members Have Direct Tv Dvr With The Tivo Software. Can U Stil Get This?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

My wife and I are deeply in love with all of the features that Tivo has to offer- little things like the several second fast forward/reverse buffer, network connection to PC’s, ect. I am having some trouble getting answers to the following: Does Direct TV offer a DVR that uses the Tivo framework instead of their generic recorder? Of course when I call all I get is “Yes we have a DVR” and the sales folks are stumped when I ask that question.
Additionally, does anybody have any thoughts on Verizon FiOS DVR? How well does it work?
OR- am I overreacting to the features that very well could go unnoticed by me since I have not used either yet…

I Have A Question About Direct Tv

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I was just wondering, A direct TV installer came out to my house and said it wouldnt work because I have too many trees around my house. A week later, another installer from a different company came out from dish because I forgot to cancel and said that dish wouldnt work but then he looked at my garage area and said that Direct TV would work perfectly there because it points in the right direction and not towards any trees. My Question is should I wait until October for ATT U verse to get here or get Direct TV?? The only issue is if I get direct TV I’m stuck in a contract with them for a year and a half. Any advice would greatly help,
I also Own a HD TV too…. I have Verizion Wireless too and wanted to bundle it all together. I see that they offer FIOS TV and internet as well but it is not available in my area yet? any help would help a lot thanks.

Whats Better, Verizon Fios, Time Warner, Direct Tv Or Dish Network??

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Depends largely upon where you live. Verizon Fios is truly the state of the art service, fiber is faster than the coaxial broadband offered by the cable companies. It generally carries nearly all of the channels that cable does. Satellite service is very good for those where fiber is unavailable. It carries a large number of channels and is very good for out of town sports. However, if you want local pro sports broadcasts often they are blocked by the cable companies who own exclusive rights to the broadcast.
