Can My Fios Dvr Record?

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Ive tried 3 ways. pressing the REC. button on the remote on a show or live TV, that doesnt do anything, going to the TV guide and pressing REC on an upcoming show but that only sets a reminder for it, and going to MENU and selecting DVR. The fios website said that it should say “create recording” under DVR but it doesnt say anything. It says that the DVR can record but i cant find a way. My DVR is a Motorola QIP 2500-3 and they said it is able to record!

Can I Record My Fios On A Regular Dvr?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

I need to buy a new video recorder, but I have Verizon FIOS and didn’t get the DVR they offer.
Can I buy a standard DVR and hook it up to my TV and/or FIOS set-top-box to record television programs? What kind of input and output plugs would I need?
I’m looking at the Toshiba D-VR610. Will this work?
I have a Panasonic widescreen HDTV (TCC 26LX60) that is about 18 months old that accepts HDMI, COAX, and component video. My TV also outputs component video.

Is It True That It Is No Longer Possible To Record Tv Shows From Your Cable Box Using Your Vcr Or Dvr Machine?

Friday, July 17th, 2009

I bought a combo unit from BestBuy, VCR/DVR. The salesman cautioned me that all new units have a “blocking chip” and that unless I buy Verizon’s DVR service (I have Verizon FIOS for TV), I won’t be able to record ANYTHING off my TV. I told him that I was always able to do so off my Verizon FIOS box using my old VCR and he claimed that this was because it was an older unit without this blocking chip.
Has anyone else heard of this? Is he right or is this bogus? It seems ridiculous that I should pay for the privilege of watching TV and then have to pay a second time to record something I like!
Are there are fixes to this if this is true?
Thanks,
Joe
