Hd Tv Shows Video For About 30 Seconds, Then Picture Cuts Out.?
Wednesday, August 12th, 2009So just got an HD box for our fios, and tried hooking it up via HDMI into the back of our toshiba. The picture will stay on, and everything looks good, for about thirty seconds before the picture cuts out and turns solid green. The sound still comes through though. We have tried it in each of the three different HDMI ports on the tv and using a different HDMI cable but the problem persists. Any thoughts? Is it the television?
Is This Normal Or Do I Have A Virus Or Other Malware? Upnp On Router Shows Ports Are Being Opened Dynamically
Sunday, August 9th, 2009I have a home network with a Netgear router with UPnP enabled connected to Verizon Fios. When I view the UPnP settings in the router it shows that one of the computers on the network has requested two ports be opened (one for TCP protocol and the other for UDP). What is troubling is that the ports that are open and assigned to these two protocols constantly change. (approx. every 2 minutes.) The port numbers range from a low of 1700 to over 60000.
I don’t have any videoconferenceing, games, IM clients, etc. running. I do have Norton Live Update that checks the Internet for updates and Quicktime that does the same. I also have the weatherbug installed.
What program on my PC would be constantly opening differerent ports for very short periods of time? Am I infected with some type of malware, etc.
Thanks for your help.
Is It True That It Is No Longer Possible To Record Tv Shows From Your Cable Box Using Your Vcr Or Dvr Machine?
Friday, July 17th, 2009I bought a combo unit from BestBuy, VCR/DVR. The salesman cautioned me that all new units have a “blocking chip” and that unless I buy Verizon’s DVR service (I have Verizon FIOS for TV), I won’t be able to record ANYTHING off my TV. I told him that I was always able to do so off my Verizon FIOS box using my old VCR and he claimed that this was because it was an older unit without this blocking chip.
Has anyone else heard of this? Is he right or is this bogus? It seems ridiculous that I should pay for the privilege of watching TV and then have to pay a second time to record something I like!
Are there are fixes to this if this is true?
Thanks,
Joe
