I Have Dsl Via Aol Verizon. What Is The Difference If I Switch To Yahoo Dsl ? Do I Need Additional Equipment?

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Yes you will, when you change Internet providers each of them provide with their own modem/router. This means that usually they have to provide with the modem/router of their kind because they only provide support for their kind of modem/routers.
So, when you sign up for Yahoo! DSL they will provide you with the modem/router and all the cables needed. Also a CD with the Internet software.
Here it is:
Install Your High Speed Internet
Your AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet installation kit will arrive via mail in about one week. It contains:
* The AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet feature guide
* DSL modem
* All necessary filters and cables
* Installation CDhttp://promo.yahoo.com/att/ordering_and_… :)

I Have 3 Computers In My Office That Share The Same Verizon Dsl, Will Using A Switch Improve The Dsl Speed?

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

Basically, I have a wireless router modem from Verizon (Westell). 3 computers share the modem as does a printer and a 2nd modem used for Vonage. This modem provides VOip and a dedicated fax line. I purchased a switch in hopes of improving that the DSL signal upload and download would improve. Is there anything else I can do?

Should I Switch From Dsl To Verizon Broadband?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I currently have a home telephone line and DSL which cost me about $48/month (through AT&T). I’m considering cancelling that (when the contract expires) and going with Verizon’s broadband service.
The Verizon broadband service runs about $60 per month so it is a higher cost and I lose my home phone but I do travel and often have to pay $11/day at hotels so in most months this would pay for itself.
I’m not sure how the speed compares but it won’t be difficult to find out but assuming its comparable, is there any reason I should hold off on making this change?
How reliable is Verizon’s broadband service? It requires a two year contract and I’m sure prices will go down in time and free public access is becoming more widely available so the value in the 2nd year may be minimal but right now it would probably be high.
